Biography

Orisel is a documentary filmmaker and editor formed at the University of Arts in Havana. She continued her studies at the International Film School in Cuba and holds a Master of Science in Visual Anthropology and Anthropological Documentary Film by FLACSO, Ecuador.
Some of her short documentaries and experimental pieces have been shown at international festivals around the world, winning a couple of prizes and awards. She participated in Talents Guadalajara in 2010, in Costa Rica Doculab in 2013, in Doculab Guadalajara 2015 or to Pitching Documentary at DocMontevideo, Uruguay in 2016. Currently works as reviewer and programmer for the EDOC festival in Quito. She is head of programming of the International Filmfestival of Quito (FICQ) and works as a professor at UDLA-University, Quito.
